A New Home – A tool for the city
This September, Frontline purchased the historic First Christian Church building in Midtown just a few blocks north of our campus Downtown. The church was built in 1911, making it one of the oldest structures in our city! In fact, the original First Christian Church held their first service in the building December 3rd 1911. I am thrilled we get to celebrate what God is doing in our city today and honor a 100 year heritage of pushing back darkness by having our opening Sunday in the new building this December 4th 2011!
Buying a 100-year-old building means several things.
First, it is one of the most beautiful structures you will ever see. I’m humbled and blown away our Downtown campus gets to use this tool to reach our city. I honestly have never seen a church building like this!
Second, it needs a lot of work. Over the last several weeks since the purchase, we’ve already made progress on some important repairs and improvements to the structural integrity of the building. These repairs include renovating the front steps, which were allowing major amounts of water into the building, gutting and rebuilding bathrooms that were damaged by that water, renovating a much-needed nursery space, rebuilding the electrical infrastructure that was damaged due to vandalism, and doing some initial roof repairs as well. That sounds like a lot, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in November so we may move next month.
So, what does that mean for you? Three things:
1. Pray
Right now, above all, I encourage everyone that is part of Frontline to pray. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 we are told to “pray without ceasing.” My prayer is that we all pray! That we pray together (1 Corinthians 14:16-17), pray in community (James 5:16 & Acts 2:42), pray in the secret (Matthew 6:6), and pray like Jesus taught. Let’s pray for God’s kingdom to come to our city and our church, for provision, for forgiveness, for unity, for humility, and for protection. Pray that the Downtown campus will be a light to OKC. Pray that we love God, love people, and push back darkness like never before.
Take Action: Come pray with us! Every Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. and every Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m. we meet to pray at the new building. In addition to these times, I encourage you to set your cell phone alarm to remind you to stop and pray for your church and our move everyday.
2. Give
To date, we’ve raised $78,970 toward phase 1 renovations of the new building. That is great, but it’s also $234,030 short of our needed goal of 313K. Bottom line, the church needs you to give toward the building fund above and beyond your regular giving. Approximately 800 people attend Downtown every Sunday, and about 1200 attend Frontline church-wide (not to mention the hundreds of people that watch and listen to the messages every week online). If we all participate, sacrifice, and give, with God’s help we can do it together!

3. Serve
Some of the repairs to the new building are pretty serious and demand professional attention, but there is also plenty of work that can and NEEDS to be done by volunteers. Painting, cleaning, putting furniture together – the list goes on and on. We need your help getting the building ready this month!
Take action: Come serve with us! It’s a great way to meet people, help your church, and have fun, too. Every Friday from 8:00 a.m. to Noon and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the new church is open for community workdays. In addition to these times, C-Groups are in the building all the time, serving together. If you’re not a part of a group, please check out the Downtown groups here and get connected!

Conversate & Contribute
We know great things will happen there. Currently we live out of state, who knows maybe God will bring us back!
Christ is returning. Prepare the way of the Lord.
